Why choose a wood burning stove?
- As a heat source they are highly efficient. In comparison to an open fire or your central heating which are both around 30% efficient a good quality wood burner can be anywhere between 70 - 80% efficient.
- Money saving. With energy bills constantly on the rise, wood burning stoves are an extremely economical investment saving up to 50% on heating bills. Having a wood burner installed reduces the need of having to switch on your central heating and whilst there is an initial outlay when investing in a wood burner that cost can be made back on energy savings in just a couple of years.
- Reliable source of heating. Winter weather is becoming increasingly unpredictable with people suffering power cuts due to freezing temperatures, flooding and gale force winds. Wood burning stoves are not dependant on electricity, oil or gas to function so when other forms of heating may not work a wood burner can ensure that your home remains warm.
- Eco Friendly. Providing you use the correct wood in your stove (i.e. Seasoned logs from a reputable vendor not damp or varnished) then it is carbon neutral. This means that stoves do not increase levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Although burning wood does give off carbon dioxide when burned, the amount given off is equal to the amount absorbed by replacement trees which absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen.
- They look great. As well as the benefits above wood burners provide cosy heat and a roaring flame which will make your house feel more homely.
